The PCBx3 Manager | 90days Trial Version package includes PCBx3 Manager | Enterprise Edition R8.31.74, the server database and sample files.

Note 1, for existing R8.31 installations, simply download and upgrade to the latest release PCBx3 Manager R8.34.43

Note 2, for systems with Microsoft Office 2014 and earlier, the package includes the Access Runtime.

Note 3, for systems with Microsoft Office 2016 or later, the Microsoft Office Professional edition or the FREE Microsoft 365 Access Runtime are required. To download and install the FREE Microsoft 365 Access Runtime, click here.

The sample application is organised in two folders and typically installed in C:\PCBx3Manager.

The installation also creates the C:\Program Files\BlakeDev or C:\Program Files(x86)\BlakeDev folders for the application and application icon that is placed on your desktop ready to go.

To start downloading, select your Windows computer type and installed Microsoft Office version.

Step-by-step instructions for a successful installation of the PCBx3 Manager 90days Trial Version:

Installing the application

Note 1, you will need Administrator privileges to install the application!

The installation proposes the folder C:\Program Files\BlakeDev or C:\Program Files(x86)\BlakeDev for the main application.

  1. Download and save the zip file to a secure folder on your hard disk
  2. Extract the enclosed files
  3. Locate and double-click the Setup.exe file in that folder
  4. Follow the Windows Installer prompts
  5. Select the Typical Installation option when prompted

Note 2, you can delete the zip file after successful installation, but you need to keep the extracted files in a secure location. They are required if you want to uninstall the application later!

Note, you need Administrator privileges to modify folder permissions!

To set the permissions for the two key folders open the Windows Explorer.

The two key folders shown below require the Windows permission: Full control.

  • Folder 1: C:\PCBx3Manager - server database, system files and folders location
  • Folder 2: C:\Program Files\BlakeDev or C:\Program Files (x86)\BlakeDev - application and icon location

To change the permissions in Windows, do the following:

  1. Select and right-click a folder listed above
  2. Select Properties and on the General Properties dialog that is shown select the Securities tab
  3. Below the Group and user names list click the button Edit
  4. On the Permissions dialog that is shown select Users
  5. In the list Permissions for Users select the required permissions - Full control
  6. Press OK on the Permissions dialog and then OK again on the General Properties dialog
Determining correct hardware and Microsoft Office Version

Note, this applies only to Microsoft Office 2014 and earlier versions.

The sample application comes pre-configured for 32-bit / 64-bit computers and different Microsoft Office Versions.

If you have downloaded the wrong version - don't worry - you don't have to uninstall the sample application again!

All you need to do is download the correct PCBx3 Manager client application.

To select a different PCBx3 Manager application, click here.

Once you have downloaded and extracted the appropriate application simply follow the below steps:

  1. Select and right-click the PCBx3 Manager desktop icon and select Find Target
  2. The folder that contains the PCBx3Client.mde is now shown
  3. Delete the PCBx3Client.mde file
  4. Copy the downloaded and extracted application from above into this folder
  5. Rename the file to PCBx3Client.mde
  6. Close the folder and follow the steps in the next section
Opening the sample application for the first time

Once installed, double click the new PCBx3 Manager desktop icon. Depending on your computer security and user settings, the first time the application is opened a security warning will appear.

The warning asks if you want to be warned prior to opening this program from Blake Developments, select yes. The program will close again.

Opening and logging into the sample application

Double click the PCBx3 Manager icon and on the security warning that will follow select to open the program.

The application will load and the PCBx3 Manager | Secure Login screen will appear. Select:

  • BuildCorp (Sample Company)
  • Username: Bob
  • Password: bob
  • Click the Enter button

Note, the sample application may not include the latest available release! If there is one available and you intend to upgrade to that release, simply visit the download page and follow the step by step guide on how to install the latest release.

Uninstalling the application

To uninstall the PCBx3 Manager | 90days Trial Version application simply follow the bow steps:

  1. Click the Start menu button and then select Control Panel
  2. Select Add / Remove Programs or Programs and Features
  3. Select and right-click on Blake Developments - PCBx3 Manager Trial Version
  4. Select Uninstall and follow the Windows prompts
  5. NOTE: This will also remove the Runtime Database Engine. Refresh list to make sure
  6. Select and right-click on Microsoft Access 2003 Run-time Database Engine
  7. Select Uninstall and follow the Windows prompts
  8. You may have to restart your computer
